Frequently asked questions
Is my display compatible?
Any external display on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac (macOS 14 or later). Échelle is built for 49 to 57-inch ultrawide displays and large 4K screens. Tested and optimized on the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57″.
Why is my display blurry without Échelle?
On Apple silicon Macs, macOS caps sharp (HiDPI) rendering on very large displays. Beyond that, the image is stretched. Échelle renders at Retina quality at the size you choose.
What if the screen goes black or unreadable?
Without your confirmation, the display goes back to the previous setting after 15 seconds. Quitting the app restores the original display.
How is it different from the App Store version?
The free App Store version offers the sizes macOS knows. The full version on this site adds sharp rendering at every size, HDR, brightness and volume: features the App Store doesn't allow.
I bought Échelle Pro, how do I activate it?
The button at the end of checkout opens Échelle and activates the license. Otherwise, paste the key from your email into Échelle › Pro. One key works on 3 Macs.
Privacy
Échelle collects no personal data and sends nothing over the Internet, with one exception: checking your license key with Lemon Squeezy, our reseller (key, Mac name). Your settings stay on your Mac. No account, no ads, no tracking.
